Dress Code

Mediterranean elegance, touched by gold

Olympus After Dark is an atmosphere, not a costume or fancy-dress theme.

With affection and imagination, we will offer our own interpretation of evenings on Mount Olympus and how the gods might have celebrated after dark: surrounded by beauty, music, dancing, indulgence and a touch of golden splendour.

Summer silhouettes, linen, silk and satin will suit the evening. Ivory, stone, olive, Aegean blue and muted terracotta will all feel at home. And because this is Olympus after dark, gold should make a considered appearance, through jewellery, accessories, shoes or detailing.

Plan Your Stay

Where to Stay

Book early. July is one of the busiest months of the year in Nafplio and the surrounding coastal villages. Accommodation choices become increasingly limited and prices generally rise as the summer approaches. We strongly recommend booking as soon as your attendance is confirmed and, ideally, before 31 December 2026.

Guests waiting until the first quarter of 2027 may find considerably fewer options, particularly for larger rooms, family apartments and properties with several units. Where possible, choose a flexible or refundable booking. All prices, availability, cancellation conditions and other terms remain those of the individual accommodation provider.

Nafplio and its surrounding villages offer everything from distinctive boutique suites to comfortable hotels and good-value self-catering apartments. These are personal recommendations rather than reserved event accommodation.

Choosing the Right Area

Nafplio Old Town

The best choice for atmosphere, restaurants, shopping and evening walks. Most of the town can be explored on foot, although parking can be difficult in July.

Modern Nafplio

A practical alternative with easier road access and parking while remaining close to the Old Town.

Tolo

Best for guests who want to combine the celebration with a beach holiday. Tolo has restaurants, watersports and a wide selection of hotels and apartments.

Asini, Lefkakia & Pyrgiotika

Quieter village settings closer to the celebration. These areas offer a more local atmosphere, but hiring a car is strongly recommended.

Getting There

Getting to Nafplio

Nafplio sits roughly two hours from Athens, and most guests will arrive through the capital. Below is everything you need to plan the journey, from flights and car hire to the party bus on the night itself.

Flights

Athens International Airport is the most practical major airport. The drive to Nafplio normally takes approximately two hours, depending on traffic.

Please consider the complete journey before booking your flight. Some European services arrive very late at night or shortly after midnight, which can complicate rental-car collection, hotel check-in and onward travel. Before booking a late arrival, check: the rental-car desk’s closing time, your accommodation’s late check-in arrangements, whether you are comfortable driving to Nafplio at night, and whether an airport hotel or private transfer may be required.

We recommend hiring a car

Hiring a car is the easiest way to experience Nafplio and the surrounding region. Although the Old Town is compact and walkable, many of the best beaches, villages, tavernas and archaeological sites are outside the town. A car is particularly helpful if you plan to stay in Tolo, Asini, Lefkakia or Pyrgiotika, or visit Mycenae, Epidaurus and the wider Peloponnese.

Alternative options. If you cannot or prefer not to drive, coach services run from Athens to Nafplio, and private transfers can be pre-booked from the airport door to door. Staying centrally will then make restaurants, shops and the waterfront easy to reach on foot.

Car hire

Based on our own experience, the car-rental service on Booking.com has consistently offered competitive rates.

Conditions differ between rental companies, so always check: collection and return times, deposit requirements, fuel and mileage policies, insurance exclusions, additional-driver charges, cancellation terms, and the rental company’s own customer reviews.

Travelling by coach

KTEL Argolida operates scheduled coach services between Athens and Nafplio. There is no direct coach from Athens Airport. Guests must first travel from the airport to the appropriate Athens bus terminal before continuing to Nafplio.

Party Bus

We will provide a party bus between accommodation areas and the celebration, so there is no need to arrange your own transport or to drive.

Final routes and collection points will depend on where guests are staying. The service will operate from agreed collection points and will be coordinated with our event planner. Final arrangements will be shared with confirmed guests closer to the celebration.

Your travel details

Please share your travel and accommodation details once confirmed so that we can coordinate the party-bus arrangements.

Make a Holiday of It

Recommended travel dates

For guests travelling internationally, we recommend arriving in Nafplio by Sunday, 4 July 2027. This will give you time to settle in, enjoy the area and experience a few relaxed summer days before Olympus After Dark on Friday, 9 July.

As the celebration will continue until late, we recommend departing no earlier than Sunday, 11 July. Saturday can then remain a relaxed recovery day, with time for a late morning, lunch by the sea or one final afternoon in Nafplio. If your schedule allows, we warmly encourage you to make a longer Greek holiday of it.

For our local friends: we would simply love you to join us for Olympus After Dark on Friday evening.

Nafplio combines Venetian architecture, waterfront cafés, pedestrian lanes, beaches and some of the Peloponnese’s most important historical sites. A few highlights:

Beaches

  • Kondyli Beach for clear water, organised beach bars and watersports.
  • Kandia Beach for a quieter day on the sand, with relaxed beach bars for long lunches and sundowners.
  • Tolo Beach for calm water, restaurants and family convenience. It is the busiest of the three, and sunbeds and umbrellas carry a charge.
  • Boat hire from Tolo. Self-skippered day boats can be chartered by the hour at very reasonable rates, ideal for exploring the nearby coves and islets.

Useful Information

Good to know

A few practical notes to help you pack, plan and travel with confidence. If anything is missing here, please do just ask us.

What’s the weather like in July?

July in Nafplio is normally hot, dry and sunny. Daytime temperatures are often around 32–34 °C, with hotter periods reaching 36 °C or higher. Heatwaves can occur, and temperatures may occasionally exceed 40 °C. Plan outdoor sightseeing for the morning or early evening, stay hydrated and check the forecast shortly before travelling.

What should we pack?

We recommend bringing: light, breathable summer clothing; swimwear; high-factor sunscreen; sunglasses and a sunhat; comfortable walking shoes or sandals; water shoes for pebble beaches; insect repellent; a reusable water bottle; any essential medication; and a light layer for strong air-conditioning.

Currency & electricity

Greece uses the euro. Cards are widely accepted, but some cash is useful for taxis, beach facilities, kiosks and smaller local businesses. Greece uses European Type C and Type F plugs with a 230V supply. Guests travelling from South Africa, the United Kingdom or outside continental Europe will need an appropriate adapter.

Pharmacies, medication & medical assistance

Nafplio has several pharmacies. When closed, pharmacies normally display information about the nearest after-hours service. Bring enough prescription medication for your full trip and carry essential medication in your hand luggage. For emergencies anywhere in Greece, call 112. Travel insurance is strongly recommended, and European visitors should also bring their European Health Insurance Card where applicable.

When should we book, and how do we reach you?

Book flights and rooms as early as you can, ideally before 31 December 2026, as July is high season. Please RSVP by 30 September 2026 via the form above. For questions about the celebration, your RSVP or travel planning, please WhatsApp Ben or Shaun.

Are children welcome?

Yes, children are welcome. This is a celebration for family and friends, although please note that the party will continue late into the evening.

Can I bring a plus one?

Single guests are welcome to bring one plus-one. Your guest’s full name must be included when you RSVP. Please do not add or substitute guests without checking with Ben, Shaun or our event planner first.

Is the venue wheelchair-friendly?

The celebration is taking place at our home. Some exterior areas have uneven paving or occasional steps, but the villa itself is on a single level with smooth floors throughout. Once inside, guests will not need to navigate any stairs or require special accessibility arrangements.
